Make Up Policy:

Make up work is the student’s responsibility and is usually required to be done other than during class. All tests are announced two to three days prior. If the student is absent the day of the test, it will be made up on the day the student returns to class. For extended absences, a timetable will be developed for the student.

Final Exam Policy:

You will be given 3 attempts to pass the final exam with a score of 80% or higher. If you score 90% or higher on the FIRST attempt, then you will be given a score of 100%. If you get below 80% on the second attempt, then you will be allowed to study for a week, then you will take the exam again. If you fail to get 80% or higher on the third attempt, then you will meet personally with the instructor to discuss the possibility of remediation, or the possibility of not being recommended. This decision will be based on your overall performance, attendance, test scores, and on your performance on the practical skills. The medical director will also be notified. If remediation is recommended, then you will be given further materials to study. Then, after a period of at least a week, you may be allowed to take the final one last time, or take a separate final. If, after the remediation period, the instructor and medical director feel that you are not qualified to become an EMT, then you will NOT be recommended, and will NOT become an EMT. You may still receive high school and college credit, as long as your final grade is above 60%.

The reward at the end will be worth it!
